Each day at Richard’s Cabanas offers guests a chance to connect with the natural beauty surrounding our property. Today, we were treated to a wonderful morning of bird-watching, right from the comfort of our poolside area!
Bird-Watching by the Rice Fields and Stream
This morning, several guests gathered near the pool area, overlooking our rice field and the small stream that flows nearby. They spotted a variety of Sri Lanka’s unique bird species, including the striking Indian Paradise Flycatcher, with its flowing tail feathers, and the brilliant blue kingfishers darting over the water. Our lush trees provide a perfect habitat, attracting an array of colorful species like bee-eaters and bulbuls, making it a bird-watcher's paradise.
Why Bird-Watching is Special Here
The tranquil setting at Richard’s Cabanas, with its rice fields, stream, and abundant greenery, makes it an ideal spot for bird-watching. Early mornings are especially magical, as the sounds of birds singing greet the day, and our guests can enjoy watching them in their natural habitat without leaving the property.
Start Your Day with Nature
We encourage our guests to start their morning with a peaceful bird-watching experience. For those interested, we have bird recognition books available and can suggest a few tips on spotting local species. It’s a perfect way to enjoy nature’s beauty before embarking on other adventures around Tissamaharama.
